Introduction

vinRECON ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our website, mobile application, and dealership operations platform (collectively, the "Service").

Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

  • Location information (with your consent, for location-based features)

Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information in the following situations:

  • Service Providers: With third-party vendors who perform services on our behalf (hosting, analytics, payment processing)

  • Legal Requirements: When required by law or to protect our rights and safety
  • With Your Consent: When you have given us permission to share your information

SMS / Text Messaging

vinRECON sends SMS text messages to two distinct audiences, with different consent and re-subscribe mechanics. We never send marketing or promotional SMS to either audience.

  • Dealership staff receive workforce notifications about their own work in the platform, such as tasks, reconditioning updates, audits, and assignments. Staff consent is granted in one of two ways: by checking the SMS consent box in the vinRECON app (on the welcome/account-setup screen or under Profile → Notification Settings), or by replying YES to the one-time onboarding invite we text when a dealership administrator adds them and selects SMS. The mobile number may be entered by the dealership administrator as a work contact, and the employee can edit or clear it — but consent is never granted on the employee’s behalf, and a number is never enrolled for ongoing notifications without the employee’s own affirmative act.
  • Dealership customers receive only solicited transactional messages they have asked a dealership for — a trade-appraisal link, a deal quote, or their own signed copy of a quote they signed. The customer gives their mobile number to dealership staff in person or by phone at the moment they request it, for that purpose.
  • No sharing of mobile information: Mobile phone numbers and SMS opt-in consent are never sold, rented, or shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Mobile information is only shared with subprocessors (such as our SMS delivery provider) strictly as needed to deliver the messages you have requested. No mobile information will be shared with third parties for their own marketing.
  • Message frequency: Message frequency varies based on your role and workspace activity. A typical user receives between 1 and 20 messages per day. The staff onboarding invite is sent at most once per user, and we never send follow-up or reminder texts to someone who has not consented.
  • Rates: Message and data rates may apply. vinRECON does not charge for SMS messages, but your mobile carrier may charge standard messaging fees under your wireless plan.
  • Opt-out: Replying STOP always works, for every recipient. Staff can also cancel SMS at any time by unchecking SMS consent in Profile → Notification Settings. Reply HELP for assistance.
  • Re-subscribing: For staff, replying START does not restore consent — staff re-opt-in only through Profile → Notification Settings in the vinRECON app. For customers, replying START does resubscribe the number.

For full details on how we collect consent, message frequency, supported carriers, and opt-out, see our SMS Consent & Opt-In Policy.

Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law. When you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal purposes.
